Fratelli Fanciullacci, but I'm confused

Postby YayItaly » May 19th, 2017, 8:29 pm

I know these are FF, but they have a design I cannot seem to locate. I'd like to pinpoint the time period, and all I'm getting is EBay ads and Pinterest pins. A little help please?

The cup and saucer are too crudely made to be of Fanciullacci quality.

I suspected the FF were scrawled on.
But what do I do now? Any tips?

Perhaps the difference between and "finely made” requires a trained eye but it is the difference between an expertly made design and an amateur’s attempt. In this case the artist attempted to recreate a form known as “Gothic Floral”. The design dates back to the mid 15th century and consists of idealized scrolled leafs and floral petals surrounded by swirling scrollwork. When studied for awhile the differences become apparent.

So, would you know anything else about the ceramic then? I have a while set of them. I'm not trying to sell, I just wanted to know more about them.
